INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIP
SERMEISS is a professional society for faculty from various disciplines who teach some aspects of the Middle East and Islamic World. Membership is available in two categories: Full Membership or Associate Membership.
Membership is open to both specialist and non-specialist educators, including graduate students, as well as other individuals whose professional activities actively engage with the Middle East and Islam. Eligible members must reside in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, or West Virginia, and pay the annual dues set by the Executive Board.
The 2025 membership dues are as follows:
$25 for graduate students and unaffiliated scholars.
$35 for early career/pre-tenure scholars and teachers.
$45 for post-tenure scholars (associate or full professors).
Dues should be paid in January or at the time of joining the society.
Associate Membership is available for $20 per calendar year for individuals who do not meet the professional or residency requirements.

INSTITUTIONAL MEMBERSHIP
INSTITUTIONAL MEMBERSHIP
Institutional Membership is open to institutions whose business, professional, or educational activities actively engage the Middle East and Islam, and that are located in the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, or West Virginia, and who pay the annual dues set by the Executive Committee. Dues for 2022 are $200.00 per calendar year, to be paid in January or when one joins the society.
Institutional Membership Includes membership and free conference registration fees for up to 6 individuals from the same institution.
